The Role

This is a permanent full-time opportunity for a Laboratory Technician to join our Soil Preparation team in Springvale, Melbourne where you will follow procedures to prepare soil samples for testing in our analytical Laboratory. This is a fast-paced role suited to someone who has worked in processing, pick packing or a fast-food environment who prides themselves on speed and quality. Laboratory experience is an advantage, however, isn't essential.

This role works the afternoon shift roster: Tuesday to Saturday (Tuesday to Friday shift is 3pm to 11.15pm and Saturday 9am to 5.15pm). 

The successful applicant will receive full training and support in the technical aspects of this and related roles across the Springvale laboratory.

The day to day

Preparation of soil samples. Ensuring that preparation and analytical procedures and associated tasks are conducted in accordance with ALS Quality Work Instructions (QWIs). Organising designated tasks to maximise daily efficiencies. Completing all tasks within both the timeframe set by the Supervisor and the relevant analysis standard. Operation of sample preparation equipment. Highlighting anomalies in results and sample type/behaviour to section supervisor. The Essentials
Experience in a high throughput, client-focused environment - ideally in a commercial laboratory Attention to detail, self-management and organisational skills Sound judgment and an effective problem-solving approach. Effective written and verbal communications Ability to work well independently or collaboratively in a team. Good chemical knowledge and appreciation of good laboratory practices. A clear understanding of HSE principles and practice and commitment to safe working Working at ALS
