Role Description/Criteria

We are looking for a Learning Support Officer who can add to the positive culture of our school and support our students. The position has an FTE of 0.8 spread over five days a week or negotiated with the suitable candidate.

Year Level/Subject: Primary

Galilee Regional Catholic Primary School is a warm and friendly community. We want to give all our students the ability to access the curriculum, which our Learning Support Officer (LSO) team supports us with tremendously. We want someone who has the same positive approach to learning as we do, and who can add to our culture with their own personality and skills. They need to be able to demonstrate a high level of flexibility and adaptability to adjust to the changing needs of students and classes.

Galilee is situated close to the city in South Melbourne and has a current enrolment of 353 students.

Hours of work: 8.30-3pm

The successful applicant will be required to:

  • liaise with the classroom teacher, the Learning Diversity Leader and other Learning Support Staff
  • attend designated staff meetings, Program Support Group meetings, professional development and other relevant duties requested by the Principal
  • work within and contribute to a collaborative education environment
  • assist student learning through intervention
  • support the learning of students with additional needs in the classroom, attending to adjustments in Personalised Learning Plans
  • use spreadsheets to track sessions with students for formal NCCD requirements
  • have a knowledge of types of disabilities such as ASD and ADHD, and appropriate strategies to develop personal, social and independent learning skills
  • assist with yard duties and various administrative tasks as required
  • comply with the school's Child Safety Policy, Code of Conduct and procedures relating to Child Safety.

This position is for the remainder of the 2024 school year.

Special Requirements

Applicants should have obtained or be willing to undertake, Certificate III (or higher qualification) in Education Support and must hold a current Working With Children's Check.
