Role Overview:

This is an exciting opportunity to join UnitingSA's team as the Manager Housing Services.

This role will lead and coordinate a skilful housing portfolio team to deliver a highly responsive and professional tenancy and housing management service across a diverse property portfolio.

The role is responsible for providing advanced leadership, direction, and coaching to their housing team to deliver successful tenancies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide role clarity and ongoing feedback to direct reports on their performance ensuring their development needs are met
  • Work collaboratively with the leadership team in the overall management of the service
  • Engage effectively with the team and build a positive team culture which embraces diversity
  • Ensure staff action leases, bonds, rent payment options, inspections, breach of tenancy notices, neighbour complaints, tenancy tribunal hearings, and the end of tenancy process.
  • Appropriately manage performance of the team including formal performance reviews and training and development plans
  • Oversee the operations of your team to ensure effective utilization of available resources and control of service and capital costs
  • Direct, monitor, and lead the staff in the development and implementation of strategies and work plans to achieve the Organisation's vision and mission
  • Create an environment of continuous improvement, teamwork, and a commitment to doing things right
  • Ensure sound cost management strategies are implemented and managed, taking in to account programming and assets cost
  • Lead policy and procedure development and oversee systems/processes that comply with all funding contracts, Tier 2 accreditation, NRAS and legislative requirements for effective service delivery.
  • Ensure that Quality Systems are embraced and enhanced in line with organisational expectations

Skills & Experience:

  • Extensive experience in the community housing and retirement living sectors
  • Experience in policy development in a housing context
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and engage a team
  • Experience in tenancy/property management is highly desirable
  • Knowledge of current Residential Tenancy legislation
  • Knowledge of the Retirement Villages Act and Regulations
  • Sound knowledge of alternate housing options available to people who are homeless or experiencing housing stress
  • High level communication and interpersonal skills with ability to deal with people from diverse backgrounds and complexity
  • Knowledge of program development and continuous improvement processes
  • Skills in property and financial management in a community housing context
