About Us

  • Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District (NBMLHD) is a wonderful place to expand your career and grow your skills and knowledge. As a recognised leader in the healthcare industry, we provide a range of public health services to the Nepean and Blue Mountains and Lithgow Region.
  • Located in South Bowenfels, the Lithgow Campus is considered as a comprehensive community health centre supporting approximately 20,000 people living in the town and surrounding areas. The services available in Lithgow hospital include Domiciliary care unit, Emergency department, Geriatric assessment unit, Obstetric services, Paediatric service, Drug and Alcohol unit.
Our General Services team is growing and looking to recruit to their Short term/Casual staff pool.

The Hospital Assistants provide effective cleaning, services to clinical and non-clinical areas, including (but not limited to) Wards, Emergency, Theatres, isolated clinical areas, in accordance with infection control policies and procedures in order to provide a high standard of cleanliness, hygiene and safety for patients, clients, staff and visitors.

What you will bring to the role:

  • Demonstrated willingness to learn / undertake training in the role of a Hospital Assistant
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with patients, other members of staff and members of the public with empathy and an appreciation of confidentiality
  • Demonstrated experience to be able to work as part of a team
  • Demonstrated ability to perform assigned tasks with a minimum of supervision
  • Basic understanding of Infection Control Principles for both personal safety as well as the safety of all within the facility
  • Current NSW Driver's Licence and willingness to use for work purpose travel
