An excellent opportunity has become available for a highly motivated and passionate Network Technical Specialist to join the Field Services Defence Team.

This is a 12 months Fixed Term Opportunity.

The opportunity:


As a Network Technical Specialist, you will operate onsite to action, coordinate and manage service requests, incidents, project tasks and requests for information on the customers ICT environment within SLA's.

Your key responsibilities and major tasks include, but are not limited to:

  • Working on the customers ICT environment that includes Defence's Juniper ICT network, wireless technology, Skype for Business voice, Video Conferencing, and passive infrastructure (Fibre and copper)
  • Taking ownership of site issues and incidents and striving for resolutions in the shortest time to meet customer expectations and service level agreements.
  • Develop and maintain health checks for an ICT environment
  • Maintaining a robust maintenance routine in the environment
  • Maintaining inventory (consumables)
  • Receive/Dispatch/Store equipment
  • Physical build (rack, stack, power, patch, etc)
  • Patch/setup/troubleshoot test equipment
  • Maintaining accurate data records (Experience with CableSolve preferred)
  • Onsite test execution support
  • Provide and manage Telstra Data networks
  • Provide and support Defence Data networks
  • Management of customer expectations and delivering the best outcomes for Telstra and our customer.
  • Maintain and report the security of the ICT environment.
  • Provide weekly reporting or escalation to the Regional Delivery Manager.
  • Provide input into, and maintain technical and or Procedural documentation

To hit the ground running we are looking for individuals who can confidently demonstrate the following:

  • Hold a minimum of NV1 AGSVA Baseline security clearance.
  • Knowledge on Data networks such as Juniper.
  • Experience in voice technology IP and analogue SFB.
  • Experience with passive ICT copper and fibre.
  • Skills in VTC
  • Highly skilled in Microsoft Project, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio.
  • Expert communication and presentation skills
  • Excellent negotiation skills
  • Proven ability to manage conflicting demands
  • Experience acting in a Program Manager capacity (desirable)
  • Broad knowledge of commercial, technical & legal issues (desirable)
  • Construction industry exposure through project management (desirable)
