The Role:


An exciting opportunity exists for a suitably experienced Occupational Therapy Clinical Educator to join the team at Northern Health - Mental Health Division.

This role is responsible for co-ordination and support for students within the Northern Health - Mental Health division.

The role will ensure co-ordinated planning enabling an increase in student placement numbers, increased learning opportunities for students with placements across mental health and general health teams and consistent evaluation of clinical placements to ensure high quality learning experiences for students.


To be successful in this role you will have:

  • 10 years' post-graduation experience in clinical mental health
  • Demonstrated experience in designing and delivering learning and development programs in either Occupational Therapy or Mental Health settings
  • Demonstrated experience in a leadership role
  • Demonstrated experience working with large and diverse groups of stakeholders
  • Comply with all legal requirements pertaining to the position including responsibility for maintaining current registration as required by your professional organisation or other applicable Acts.
  • Experience in identifying professional development needs of health professionals
  • Demonstrated skills and experience in professional (clinical) supervision; conducting training sessions and facilitating groups in a multidisciplinary context
  • Able to competently perform in a position with a degree of autonomy and responsibility whilst also contributing effectively as a team member within a multidisciplinary team environment
  • Highly developed written and oral communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work flexibly in a complex large organisation and manage time effectively
  • Understanding of and ability to contribute to positive workforce culture, staff wellbeing, and leadership initiatives.

Highly Desirable

  • A Certificate IV in Training & Assessment, and/or equivalent qualification relevant to workforce education
  • Intermediate or higher information technology skills including use of Microsoft suite including of spreadsheet, word processing, presentation and database software and with audiovisual technology
  • Familiarity with the use of video conference, webinar and other multimedia technologies as an aid to learning is an advantage
  • Experience in Project Management/Project Coordination
  • Ability to contribute to research and program evaluation
