We are currently looking for an Assistant Accountant to join the John Holland team working at our Seven Hills based site. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, analytical skills and be an effective communicator able to build relationships across the business.

Responsibilities of the role include:

­Collaborate with the Finance Manager and other team members to successfully execute various accounting tasks for RIS NSW business within relevant procedures and guidelines ­Perform daily accounting tasks, including accounts receivable / payable, journal entries, various reconciliations, and job ledger maintenance ­Maintain accurate financial records and ensure proper documentation and record-keeping ­Assist to prepare variance analysis on financial information and maintain records of operating performance for comparison with estimated budgets ­Assist with the development of operating budgets and forecasts using data supplied, such as actual performance, previous budget figures, estimated revenue and expense reports ­Liaise with other departments to gather financial information and resolve discrepancies ­ Support month-end and year-end closing processes ­Assist with payroll timesheet processing as needed ­Ability to assist in compliance and report procedures and processes ­Deliver a scope of work in accordance with procedures, project plans or specifications for work that is planned for the short-term view, e.g. from daily to fortnightly ­Ensure financial outcomes in reducing costs and meeting budgets ­Assist in internal and external audit programs ­Perform all duties in accordance with John Holland policies, processes, systems and procedures, and other duties as required by the Finance Manager and the finance team

Experience required:

­1-3 years of relevant accounting experience ­Strong attention to detail and accuracy ­Excellent organisational and time management skills ­Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. ­Good communication and interpersonal skills ­Ability to work independently and as part of a team ­Knowledge of accounting principles and regulations ­Discretion in handling confidential or sensitive financial data ­Experience with the construction or rail infrastructure industry and project environment preferred but not essential

Qualifications:

­Tertiary Qualification or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field ­Professional certifications such as CPA or CA (or working towards them) ­Proficiency with accounting software and MS Office, particularly Excel
