The Assistant Accountant is a key position within the Health Care Complaints Commission, responsible for providing financial support and assistance to the Financial Accountant.
Key Responsibilities- Provide financial support and assistance to the Financial Accountant to ensure business needs are met and core functions are performed effectively and efficiently.
- Maintain knowledge of accounting standards, government policy, and legislation to deliver best practice accounting.
- Manage relationships and responsibilities across other Divisions within the Commission in an environment of different workloads and priorities.
- Manage the relationship and escalated matters between the outsourced provider, GovConnect, with internal stakeholder demands.
- Qualifications from TAFE (Graduate Diploma in Accounting) or Uni Degree.
- Must be either a member of or be eligible to join a professional accounting body (NIA/CPA/CA).
- Previous experience in an accounting role.
- Team player with good communication skills.
- High attention to detail, excellent time management skills, and a proactive approach.
- A positive attitude and be a keen learner.
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
- Able to be an efficient business partner with internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong ability to solve problems and offer solutions.
- High proficiency in MS Excel.
Minimum of 2 years or have completed a graduate program in accounting or business.
