About the role:

The Timely Emergency Care Collaborative project is the Department of Health's innovative approach to enhance emergency care timeliness across the Victorian health system, in partnership with the Institute for Healthcare Improvement, 14 Health Services and Ambulance Victoria.

The Collaborative involves three workstreams:

  • Enhance leadership oversight and establish a data-driven learning system to improve hospital-wide patient flow and deliver timely emergency care
  • Enhance hospital-wide patient flow to create capacity and reduce wait times for emergency admissions/transfers
  • Enhance efficiencies, length of stay, and throughput in the ED

How you'll contribute:

As an Improvement Advisor, you will bring specialized expertise in improvement science to the Collaborative's work. This position will play a role in developing the Collaborative's measurement strategy and offering guidance on the sound construction of the theory of change.

Suitable applicants should be able to demonstrate:

  • Contribute to creating foundational Collaborative materials including project goals, measurement strategy, content theory, execution strategy, and dissemination plans.
  • Instruct, mentor, and assist participating teams.
  • Encourage shared learning among participating teams during the Collaborative, and emphasize achievements for wider dissemination and expansion.
  • Apply improvement measurement principles to monitor and report Collaborative progress utilizing a platform supporting data sharing, progress reporting, learning dissemination, and evaluation.
  • Monitor Collaborative progress regularly and detect necessary alterations in key technical content, measurement, and application of improvement science tools and practices.
  • Facilitate consistent contemplation on progress and back the formulation of strategies to handle emerging challenges.
  • Maintain complete and precise records of your work activities in compliance with legislative obligations and the department's record-keeping, information security, and privacy policies.
  • Exercise caution for your well-being and that of others in the workplace by operating in accordance with legislative mandates and the department's occupational health and safety (OHS) protocols.
  • Show how the actions and results of this role and work group impact clients and the department's capability to offer, or facilitate the provision of, effective support and services.
  • Take part in planning and attendance at meetings to ensure deliberate reflection on progress and learning.
