About Microbiology:


Microbiology utilises state of the art automation and technologies as well conventional manual methodology to generate clinically valuable information for diagnosis and treatment of infections.


About the role:


This position requires a suitably qualified applicant with relevant experience in a diagnostic microbiology laboratory to work part-time afternoon shift (currently 15:00 - 23:30).

This position has potential to evolve to a permanent, part-time/full-time position.

Duties will include:

  • Specimen processing using BD Kiestra automation as well as by manual methods
  • Setting up Vitek and MALDI-ToF tests

About you:

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to support our expanding team.

Ideally, you'll have:

  • A relevant qualification and demonstrable Microbiology knowledge.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work both independently and in a team.
  • Demonstrable time management skills with an ability to prioritise and cope with stressful and emergency situations.
  • Experience working in a diagnostic Microbiology laboratory

Selection Criteria
Essential:
A relevant qualification and demonstrable Microbiology knowledge and experience processing specimens in a Microbiology laboratory

Essential:
Ability to work both independently, and in a team environment with good interpersonal and communication skills.

Essential:
Availability to work afternoon shift (currently 15:00-23:30) and have flexibility to adjust hours if the shift-time changes slightly

Desirable:

Experience with Microbiology automation (eg Kiestra, MALDI-TOF, Urine analyser, Blood culture machine, Vitek, BDMAX, GeneXpert etc), AUSLAB LIS will be highly regarded.
