Kyogle Council is on the hunt for a skilled and committed General Manager (CEO) to lead organizational effectiveness in harmony with community needs and expectations.

Working closely with the Mayor and Councillors, the perfect candidate will be a standout local government leader with solid financial expertise, aiming to enhance the organization's sustainability and foster engagement with various stakeholders, all while cultivating a highly capable, positive organizational environment.

Key responsibilities:

  • Ensure harmony between the Council, Elected Members, and the community to ensure that strategic and operational priorities mirror community needs, promoting collaboration and creativity.
  • Offer expert advice to the Mayor and Elected Members.
  • Supervise Council operations, ensuring effective service provision and compliance while overseeing budgets and resources to finance and back crucial projects and endeavors.
  • Form and uphold constructive relationships and partnerships with essential internal and external stakeholders.
  • Guide the workforce in executing the Community Strategic Plan while establishing a forward-thinking, positive organizational culture that aligns with Council's principles.

Qualifications, skills, and attributes

The ideal candidate will bring vast experience in steering the strategic course of a local government body, emphasizing performance enhancement. Understanding the predicaments confronting communities in regional NSW, with a background in disaster management, will be highly valued. Additionally, the contender must showcase a solid history of involving communities and stakeholders to realize customer-centric results, coupled with robust financial management abilities and a pertinent degree in Business/Management or a related field.

Kyogle, spanning 3,600 square kilometers, is a vivid area nestled in the Northern Rivers expanse of New South Wales. Recognized for its scenic charm and exceptional lifestyle, it accommodates approximately 9,000 residents.
