About the Opportunity

Due to the complexity of the DCE Program, it has been recognized that a dedicated Waterfront Production Support team is needed to increase the effectiveness and timeliness of resolving deck plate issues raised by the DCE Platform Installer and other delivery organizations (e.g. Combat Systems Integrator Integrated Project Team (CSI IPT)).

Reporting to the DCE Waterfront Support Manager, BAE Systems has exciting opportunities for Field Engineers (Test and Evaluation). These positions are primarily responsible for providing Engineering support, guidance, and coordination to resolve technical issues identified during Production of the DCE (Destroyer Capability Enhancement) Program.

We embrace flexible work arrangements at BAE Systems Australia, such as working a 9-day fortnight and flexible work arrangements.

Key Responsibilities Include (however not limited to):
  1. Work within the DCE Waterfront Support team to provide timely triage, response/resolution, and close out of DCE External Maintenance Period (ExtMP) PIRs and other Production related issue reports
  2. Develop integration related documentation in accordance with appropriate standards
  3. Development and / or preparation of accurate technical documentation including test procedures and reports
  4. Assist in development of any tools/ rigs necessary for integration of the deliverable system
  5. Identify opportunities for the improvement of integration practices
  6. Support PIR reporting and the performance framework throughout DCE ExtMP Production
  7. Ensure Problem Reports are raised for all system problems identified during system integration and where possible, isolate such problems to specific system components
  8. Set to work, test, integrate, and commission equipment and systems
  9. Provide oversight and technical Subject Matter Expert (SME) knowledge for Test & Commissioning
  10. Provide input to planning and maintenance of schedules
  11. Defect analysis, resolution, and provision of detailed Technical Report
  12. Contribute to the analysis on complex technical problems to create solutions where precedent may not exist
About YOU

Requirements:

  • Degree level qualifications in an Engineering discipline and engineering experience enabling eligibility for admission to the Institution of Engineers, Australia, as a Chartered Professional
  • Significant experience within a production engineering capacity
  • Demonstrated professional integrity, advanced level of technical knowledge, objectivity, acceptance of responsibility, maturity of judgement
  • Demonstrated practical and extensive knowledge of manufacturing processes in a commercial and / or defence environment
  • Ability to make independent judgments and decisions relating to role with the ability to form & facilitate problem-solving teams in order to achieve engineering systems and processes outcomes
  • Ability to communicate and build relationships with people at all levels (verbal and written skills)
  • Strong understanding of MRP (Material requirements planning) fundamentals
  • Eligible to obtain and maintain relevant Defence Clearances
