The Commission has developed the National Safety and Quality Community Mental Health Standards (NSQMH Standards for CMOs). The NSQMHS for CMO requires ongoing project support to develop the accreditation arrangements, resources and guidance to support implementation. There is a need for a project officer to support the ongoing work items in the Commission's work plan.


The project team, consisting of a Director, a consultant project lead, Principal Advisor, and Project Officer will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the project and its activities, including reporting and managing the budget.

The duties of the Project Officer, Mental Health Program will include but not be limited to:

  • Undertake communications activities including monitoring the team's communications schedule and Work Plan
  • Undertake project management activities including planning, documenting and implementing the project, monitoring and reporting on progress and project milestones and identifying problems and proposing possible solutions.
  • Research, review and analyse relevant information such as data, reports, websites and other published material to support the development of the project
  • Collate, edit and draft meeting papers, correspondence, presentations, briefing notes, minutes and other written materials for a range of audiences
  • Undertake procurement and contract management activities including financial administration, budget preparation and monitoring as necessary
  • Provide secretariat support for committees and expert groups, including preparation of agenda papers, minutes and other administrative tasks
  • Liaise with national and state authorities, professional organisations, individuals, government and nongovernment organisations to progress the project's priorities
  • Inform the Program Director, the Project team and other relevant stakeholders about the project's progress and strategic implications
  • Strong conceptual, analytical and research skills, including demonstrated sound judgement and innovative problemsolving skills
  • Welldeveloped oral and written communication skills including demonstrated ability to prepare documents including briefing papers, reviews, submissions, correspondence and meeting papers
  • Demonstrated project management skills and experience
  • Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to communicate effectively and develop productive working relationships with a range of stakeholders
  • Effective teamwork skills including the ability to work collaboratively to achieve results and outcomes in a timely manner.
