Reporting to the Activity Centre Team Leader our Activity Officers are responsible for promoting emotional and physical rehabilitation to our clients. This is done through recreational activities that promote holistic wellbeing. They encourage to maintain the skill level, independence and mobility that they require, along with providing support to their family/carers.

  • You will be working with clients across our Central Coast Activity Centres including Gorokan, Gosford and Woy Woy
  • The position is Part Time 7-month contract, 30hrs per fortnight - staff member required to be available Monday - Friday 8.30am -4pm
  • Hourly rate of $30.46 plus super and eligibility for NFP salary packaging

What you will be doing

  • Planning, preparing and delivering of a range of social and recreational activities for both individuals and groups
  • Encouraging the socialisation process for customers via a wide range of organised group activities, entertainment according to customers' interests and skills.
  • Promoting the retention of existing life skills for people and provide opportunities to enhance these skills through participation in various tasks
  • Providing a high level of customer service and person centred care at all times
  • Report and communicate when any changes are identified.
  • Providing assistance to customers in activities of daily living as detailed in the customer care plan
  • Medication assist may be part of the roles' duties

What you will need

  • Ability to travel to all day centre sites including reliable and comprehensive insured motor vehicle
  • Certificate III in Individual Support (Aged Care) or equivalent qualifications of the same level or higher
  • Current First Aid + CPR
  • Ability to create a supportive and empowering environment for customers and carers
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to liaise with a wide range of customers
  • Confident in using different forms of technology such as an Apple IPad, Microsoft Word, Outlook and Microsoft Teams
  • Demonstrated understanding of the health and wellbeing needs of older people and proven customer service orientation
  • Experience working with people with dementia is essential
  • Current driver's license (P1 or above)
