  • Artega is a technology led investment administration business offering front, middle and back office services to investment managers and asset owners in Australia and Asia. The business currently supports over $100Bn for its clients and has 140 staff located in Sydney and London. The business utilises the SimCorp Dimension software as its core technology platform._

Role Purpose:


The Market Operations team is made up of 3 streams that are responsible for all settlement and investment lifecycle related activity.


The Market Operations Associate will be expected to rotate through the various streams, gaining experience and exposure to all areas of Market Operations.

Challenger and its various businesses invest globally in a wide range of products, some market standard, and some bespoke structured investments.

These include (but are not limited to); equities, fixed income, futures and listed options, FX, OTC derivatives (IRS, CCS, TRS, OTC Options).


Role Responsibilities:

  • Trade confirmation, instruction and settlement
  • Futures and OTC
  • Corporate actions and income receipts
  • Payments
  • Regulatory trade reporting
  • Margin movements
Associates are expected to perform the following standard functions:

  • Support other people across the 3 streams to ensure all work done each day
  • Backup coverage for other team members as required
  • Escalation to manager of issues prior to cut off / deadline or before the issue becomes visible outside of Investment Operations
  • Writing of any issue or incident reports (first draft)
  • Completion of checklist items as and when they are actually done. Escalation of checklist items not able to be done on time, prior to deadline passing
  • Testing as required for new modules, systems, enhancements, BCP etc
  • Adherence to the procedures.
  • Escalation to manager where procedures do not cover a situation.
  • Escalation to manager where checklists do not represent all procedures or where procedures are not covered by a checklist item.
  • Draft writing of procedures
  • Assist / coach / train more junior team members in first instance

Role Requirements:

  • Understanding of Australian Financial Markets and the role of different participants within the market.
  • Knowledge of how the funds management business works and the flow of funds
  • Strong understanding of Corporate Actions
  • Good understanding of financial instruments and their settlement lifecycle
  • Understanding of the market settlement process for fixed interest, equities and exchange traded derivatives
  • Experience in identifying, assessing, evaluating, and managing risks within an operations team
