The Opportunity

Melton City Council is committed to a culture of good governance, integrity and transparency and this role will lead the establishment and implementation of an integrity framework across the organisation.

Reporting to the Head of Governance, the Senior Integrity Advisor will act as the primary point of contact for integrity agencies and coordinate responses on behalf of the organisation. The role will provide strategic advice to staff and the Executive Leadership Team and provide regular reports to the Audit and Risk Committee on integrity related matters.

The role will lead policy development and identity sector leading improvement opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as Council's key integrity agency contact and ensure the efficient and effective investigation and management of matters referred by the Chief Executive Officer, Victorian Ombudsman or the Local Government Inspectorate.
  • Review and assess appeals received from the public, particularly in the area of infringement review.
  • Act as an internal consultant on integrity related matters, providing strategic advice to all staff and Councillors.
  • Make recommendations to the Executive, Council and Audit and Risk Management Committee on integrity related prevention and control measures based on sector reports and findings.
  • Embed a culture of good governance and ethical standards through the establishment of an integrity framework that promotes prevention, education and reporting.

About you

To be successful in this role you will have the following:

  • Tertiary qualification in law, governance, public policy or a discipline relative to the position.
  • Extensive experience in local government and a sound understanding of the statutory and legislative requirements of the roles of Council, Councillors and the administration.
  • Understanding of public sector operations particularly related to such organisations as IBAC the Local Government Inspectorate and Victorian Ombudsman.
