About the role

As a Cadet Building Certifier, you will utilise your developing technical skills and knowledge gained through your studies, and on the job training to be a key member of the Building Certification and Regulatory teams.


Some of your key responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting in the processing and assessment of Building Regulatory Applications in compliance with all relevant Statutory Acts and Laws, including Council's cultural heritage practices, and carry out inspections for compliance with legislation
  • Ensuring complete and accurate records are captured, created and maintained within the appropriate recordkeeping system in accordance with Council policies and procedures
  • Preparation of advice to, and liaison with, internal and external stakeholders as necessary with regards to program functions

About you
To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Basic knowledge of the_ Building Act_ and Building Regulations
  • Basic research and computing skills
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and priorities workloads
  • Strong interpersonal skills (both written and oral) to enable effective communication with Council's clients (including members of the public) and Council employees
  • Be an excellent fit with our values of communication, collaboration, integrity, efficiency and leadership
  • Cadets are required to be studying with a professional organisation recognised by the Queensland Building and Construction Commission for licencing as a Building Certifier

AND

  • Register as a Non-Practicing Member (Student) with either the Australian Institute of Building Surveyors or the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors
  • Hold a current Queensland C Class Driver's Licence

This Cadetship is a fixed-term part-time (4 days pers per week) or full-time position with an attractive salary package commencing at Level 2 $67,077 plus superannuation of up to 12.25%.
