Reporting to the Sector Chief People Officer, as our new Head of Skills & Talent, you'll be responsible for enabling the collaborative development and execution of the Sector Skills and Talent strategy including the establishment of strategic workforce plan.


You'll partner with the Sector leadership team to identify the critical skills and talent we need to attract, develop and grow in the near and long term to ensure the achievement of our Sector strategy.

This long term insight will guide your leadership of the Australian early careers programme and the growth of our talent pipeline, partnering with the Global Talent team to design and embed a talent management approach which offers career growth and creates an environment where our people can thrive.

With regards to location, we are flexible to consider applicants from Adelaide, Canberra or Melbourne.

In terms of the finer detail, in this key role you will:
Partner with the Sector Chief People Officer and the Australia Sector Leadership Team to develop the Sector Skills and Talent strategy and execute it in line with the Integrated Strategic Business Plan (ISBP)

Hold a lead role in embedding strategic workforce planning in the Sector drawing upon external practice and insight

Collaborate with the Reward team, Head of People Experience and Head of Talent Acquisition to evolve the employee offering in line with our strategic capability attraction and retention requirements

Partner with the Group People function and Sector Functional Chiefs on the design and delivery of learning and development interventions to address skills and capability gaps and upskilling whilst also guiding them on mandatory corporate training requirements

Embed the Group Leadership and Assessment and Development framework within the Sector

Lead the delivery of the Australian market early careers programme

Lead the Sector Talent management plan in line with the QinetiQ Group Talent Strategy

Act as the Sector process lead for the HRIS (Success Factors) Learning module

This senior, yet hands-on role calls for:
Comprehensive and varied human resources technical experience with a specialist focus in strategic workforce planning, talent management, learning and leadership development

Tangible experience of successfully delivering in a global or multi-national company and an ability to integrate and collaborate across multiple geographical locations, time zones and cultures

Strong relationship building skills and an understanding of how to successfully deliver in a matrix organisation

An understanding of how to foster an inclusive learning culture

Commercial and financial acumen

Experience in the development and delivery of change and improved operational service delivery

Whilst not essential, experience in the development and/or leadership of early careers programs is highly regarded.

Due to the nature of the role, applicants must be eligible for Australian Defence security clearance.
