Camino Research & Strategy is a boutique market research agency driven to provide market-leading business intelligence and insights. We're seeking an experienced research specialist to join our team and take a pivotal role at the heart of the insights team for one of Australia's most iconic brands.

Who are we looking for?

Ideal for either an experienced account manager or junior consultant looking to step up, this is an exciting opportunity for you to take a leading role managing our client relationships, working in true partnership with the insights team and wider stakeholders. You'll have frequent opportunities to apply your analytical and strategic thinking in a way that results in real change for our multinational client. We're looking for a people-focused researcher, who has the empathy to understand our clients, not just their requests.

Working within a small team of consultants, analysts, and directors, you will be supported in taking a leadership role in managing the client relationship, while having frequent opportunities to contribute towards interesting projects that arise throughout the year.

Our team receives these benefits:

  • Competitive base salary plus a performance-based bonus of up to 10%, with strong potential for further growth as you contribute to the business.
  • Flexible hours and working from home (WFH) hybrid. You would be expected to meet in our client's Port Melbourne office (with the rest of the Camino team) around once a week. Apart from that, so long as the work gets done and the client is happy, we don't mind where or when you work. We also have a Camino office available in Melbourne's CBD if you prefer working in-person with colleagues.
  • Access to an annual training fund for any program that you feel would benefit your work and/or professional development.
  • 4 weeks annual leave in addition to an office shutdown over the Christmas/New Year break.
  • Structured appraisal program with achievable bonus targets agreed upon in advance of the year.

The ideal candidate will have these personality traits:

  • Brings a positive attitude, works well in a team and autonomously.
  • Open to feedback, while being unafraid to provide your own opinion.
  • Being personable and empathetic is a must. You will be client focused and have what it takes to drive meaningful relationships.
  • Naturally inquisitive, with a critical mind for analysis. A desire to reach the right answer, not just the fastest one.
  • A nose for spotting errors Strong attention to detail and a critical mind to formatting reports.

The ideal candidate will have these skills & experience:

  • 2 to 4+ years of experience in research, preferably working with recognized brands. This role is ideal for a consultant that already has experience communicating with clients, though a people-focused academic researcher looking to get into industry is also suitable.
  • Strong numerical skills and formal training in statistical concepts.
  • Can communicate complex ideas effectively and succinctly, both face-to-face and over email.
  • Proficient with data manipulation in Excel (formulas and pivot tables).
  • Produces accurate and visually engaging research reports in PowerPoint that tell a story and with clear business implications.
  • Experience with statistical software such as SPSS, Q, R is desirable, as is familiarity with questionnaire scripting tools (Qualtrics) or coding languages (Python, R).
