Policy & Projects Officer - Family Violence

Location - Parramatta, with flexible working arrangements available for regional applicants

Employment type - Temporary Full-Time role up to 24 November 2024

Salary - ($101,947 to $112,849) plus employer's contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading

About us


The Transforming Aboriginal Outcomes (TAO) Division is responsible for developing and implementing programs of work and projects to address DCJ's four Closing The Gap (CTG) socio-economic targets with our Coalition of Aboriginal Peak Organisations (CAPO) partners.


The TAO Family Violence Team is responsible for co-leading CTG Target 13, which is to reduce the rate of all forms of family violence and abuse against Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women and children by at least 50%, as progress towards zero, by 2031.


Your role


The Policy and Projects Officer coordinates and contributes to the development and delivery of a range of projects and provides analysis and advice to support Agency and Government policy initiatives and commitments.

As part of the TAO Family Violence team, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Communicate & collaborate with stakeholders to develop priorities and initiatives to reduce domestic and family violence against Aboriginal women and children.
  • Use data, evidence and the perspectives of Aboriginal people with lived experience to shape policy and priorities in addressing domestic, family & sexual violence.
  • Work with Aboriginal communities across NSW to design and implement Aboriginalled, placedbased solutions to address domestic, family & sexual violence, focusing on selfdetermination, early intervention and prevention, response, healing, and recovery.

What we're looking for

  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the contemporary and historic social issues experienced by Aboriginal people, including impacts and drivers of Domestic, Family & Sexual Violence.,
  • Demonstrated organisational skills, ability to meet urgent deadlines with mínimal supervision and prioritise conflicting work commitments,
  • Demonstrated verbal & written communication and interpersonal skills,
  • Demonstrated experience in managing or supporting the development and implementation of projects and/or programs,
  • Demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal communities, and NGO's to develop and/or deliver programs, and,
  • Tertiary qualifications in disciplines such as social work, law, policy &/or project management, sociology, psychology, or criminology, or equivalent level experience.
