In this role you will:

  • Lead and monitor the delivery of centrebased assessment, reintegration, rehabilitation, education, pastoral care and cultural services to prisoners.
  • Manage resources so that rehabilitation and reintegration activities are consistent with the goals of the agency, and supportive of the EndtoEnd Case Management model, ensuring all prisoners receive the appropriate dosage of case management consistent with their risks and needs.
  • Contribute to the dynamic security of the centre by being an integral member of the senior management team, who engages in broader centre safety and security activities such as cell inspections, duty manager functions and advice to the operational workforce when required.
  • Ensure compliance with the Agency's practices and procedures, and where required, facilitate the implementation of new initiatives, programs and services.
  • Implement and maintain appropriate mechanisms in relation to the achievement of statutory and professional obligations to meet reporting and ethical conduct requirements.
  • Oversee and engage in the delivery of staff training, supporting contemporary offender management of prisoners.
  • Oversee and coordinate stakeholder engagement activities, including supporting delivery of services and programs in correctional centres by other government agencies, external contractors, providers, and volunteers.
  • Ensure workloads and work practices of staff contribute to the effectiveness and performance of the centre, and are consistent with the Agency's human resources policies and procedures.
  • Supervise, motivate, encourage, and coach staff in the performance of their duties, and ensure training and professional development opportunities are provided.
  • Provide concise, informative, and timely briefings to the Deputy General Manager, including the exchange of information between agencies to maximise the protection of the community in a timely manner.
  • Manage the appropriate protocols and procedures with relevant criminal justice agencies in line with departmental policy and procedures
  • Actively participate in and promote strong multidisciplinary team cooperation and collaboration within the correctional centre to ensure the delivery of quality offender management services.
  • Work closely with Specialist Operations to ensure centrebased rehabilitation and reintegration activities align with Agency objectives and professional practice frameworks.
