The Team leader role will oversee the operation our specialist consultants (e.g., Urologists, Breast Surgeons) in the practice management division our centre (which also offers cancer treatments via our day hospital and radiation therapy divisions).

As the practice management lead, you will over see a team of Medical Secretaries and be responsible for processing patient referrals, patient bookings, invoicing/billing, and coordinating theatre lists with hospitals, anaesthetists and patients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide supervision and oversight of the Administration team, providing ongoing training and support.
  • Processing Medicare & private billing w/ correct MBS item numbers
  • Gentu system use and administration: Book appointments, create patient records, book in procedures, organise theatre/surgical bookings, generate invoicing etc
  • Provide support or relieve in other roles within the team as required to ensure effective and efficient services for patients.
  • Understanding of Medicare guidelines for accurate referral management and item number rulings.
  • Encourage participatory team approach to service delivery seeking input and feedback from team members.
  • General adhoc admin support for specialists/surgeons
  • Liaise with patients and their families in a friendly and compassionate manner.

About the person we're going to hire:

  • Experience leading a team in a healthcare environment would be viewed favourably, but by no means essential.
  • Experience in a practice management setting managing a variety of medical specialties highly desired.
  • High level of Practice Management software use experience (Gentu/Genie a bonus)
  • Ability to work autonomously and effectively in a team environment and plan, coordinate and organise workloads to achieve quality patient service outcomes in a timely manner.
  • Ability to prioritise and manage time effectively.
  • Prior knowledge and experience in training and development programs ensuring adequate skill levels are maintained to meet operational needs, achieve strategic goals and engage team members.
  • Proven ability to establish successful customer relationships with patients, doctors and other stakeholders by ensuring needs and expectations are understood and managed in a timely and effective manner.
