The Opportunity

We are looking to begin this course at the end of May/start of June. The role will be paying $30.10 per hour, with a pay increase after the 3 month period.

This is an entry level role, where you will gain the experience needed to work in this field in training.


  • The role will see you starting as a casual employee, however there is an opportunity for this to be a permanent position.
  • Complete the 5 week paid training course.
  • Gain employment as a trainee officer with Ventia to complete on the job role.
  • Work towards receiving a certificate III in Correctional Practice.
Your duties will include but are not limited to:

  • Providing for the safety and security of Persons in Custody
  • Transport Persons in Custody as required
  • Care for Persons in Custody whilst admitted to Hospital
  • Care for Persons in Custody whilst in Court Custody

  • High safety and security focus
  • Must have a manual Driving Licence
  • Be willing to obtain a First Aid Certificate
  • MR truck licence (or above) highly regarded
Ventia will provide you with all the professional training required to fully undertake and succeed in this role.

You will need to have Australian Working Rights and have the ability to obtain and maintain a National Police Check, Working with Children Check and be prepared to undergo a pre-employment medical including a drug & alcohol test in order to be eligible for these positions.
