An exciting opportunity exists to join the Infrastructure Traffic and Civil Engineering Branch at Yarra City Council.

We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic officer to join the Permits and Consents Team to assess and manage Construction Management Plans.

This area is fast paced and requires attention to detail and excellent communication and time management skills.


The CMP Technical Officer assesses and manages Construction Management Plans as determined by the associated Planning Permit and submitted by developers and building companies for large construction sites.

You will be responsible for the day-to-day management of this process overseeing internal and external stakeholders and ensuring quality outcomes for all parties.

This position will report to Team Leader Permits and Consents.


The role requires a level of experience and understanding of councils permits and consents process, traffic management plans, planning requirements and compliance with relevant legislation.

You will be required to work autonomously as well as contribute to a high performing team who values teamwork and quality results.


Key responsibilities include:

  • Coordinate Council's assessment process for CMPs, liaising with relevant departments to obtain accurate information and provide a timely outcome for applicants.
  • Assess and approve Construction Management Plans (CMP) that provides a basis of standards expected on significant construction sites
  • Provide high level accurate advice and instruction to stakeholders (external and internal) and promote awareness in respect to compliance with planning permits, CMP, occupation permits, traffic management arrangements associated with works on roads, events and temporary street closures.
  • Coordinate consents and permits for major utility and council led projects.
