Sleep Medicine Clinical Fellow - Advanced Trainee

About the position

The Woolcock Institute of Medical Research is looking for a Clinical Fellow (Advanced Trainee) for a comprehensive 12-month Sleep Medicine training role starting in February 2025. This position involves working in two main sections of the Institute.

  • The Woolcock Clinic – a renowned multidisciplinary clinic specializing in treating various sleep and breathing disorders. In this role, you will contribute to providing sleep medicine clinical services, actively participating in specialized clinics such as Hypersomnolence and Narcolepsy Clinic, Insomnia Clinic, CPAP Clinic, General Sleep Clinic, Weight-loss Clinic, and diagnostic services like polysomnography, CPAP titration, and review studies.
  • Sleep and Circadian Research Group – a large, multidisciplinary research team dedicated to advancing the understanding of sleep biology and the management of sleep disorders. Here, you will be involved in various research projects, including participant screenings, visits, and conducting a small research project in your area of interest.

Additionally, you will engage in clinical and research tasks at associated locations such as RPA-Hospital.

This role is ideal for Trainees aiming to complete Advanced Training in Sleep Medicine or individuals with FRACP in another discipline looking for Sleep Medicine Training/accreditation (e.g. Neurologists).

Key Requirements

  • Eligible for enrollment in Advanced Training through the Royal Australasian College of Physicians
  • Strong clinical knowledge and experience in various sleep disorders
  • Practical management skills in treating sleep disorders
  • Basic understanding of instrumentation and research processes
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Flexibility to travel between different locations
  • Current Working With Children Check

Location

The primary work location is at the Woolcock Institute's site in Macquarie Park, with activities at other sites such as RPA-Hospital.
