The Linehaul Manager is responsible for managing all aspects of State Linehaul services, including but not limited to Interstate, Intrastate and shuttles between depots and agents.

This roles focus is on developing innovation initiatives for implementation in the Express Operations environment.

You will be responsible for:

Commercial & Strategic Priorities

  • Engage with key internal stakeholders to run a best in class linehaul operation for
    WA/SA processing facilities, delivery facilities, business centres, Agents, procurement and support functions.
  • Monitor the
    WA and SA linehaul operation ensuring service and safety is at the forefront, performance obligations are met, and cost effective while creating a network blueprint for the future. This includes interstate liaison with the wider network to ensure the best collaborative outcome for the Enterprise.
  • Monitor network operational performance to identify emerging issues and communicate these to the network for improvement.
  • Provide the interface across the Express network and for customers to ensure all upcoming or recognised events are accommodated in the plans and adverse outcomes have mitigation plans developed and implemented.
  • Maintain the preferred routing of freight to meet ETA service commitments whilst moving at the optimum cost.
  • Ensure Australia Post is compliant with all regulatory requirements for the carriage of parcels on all routes.
  • Work with the States managers to ensure the agent linehaul network is operating efficiently and compliantly.

Financial

  • Manage the State P&L for the Express network for the states of
    WA & SA
  • Deliver long term cost effective solutions for freight and contract negotiations
  • Introduce MODLR initiatives and ensure these are tracked once approved

Customer & Innovation

  • Believes in the principle of One Team and puts the customer and the Enterprise ahead of own agenda in words and actions
  • Ensure key stakeholders are informed of unanticipated events that could potentially impact on volumes, routes and delivery times, and natural disasters that may require the implementation of mitigation strategies to ensure the best possible service performance and cost outcomes.
  • Provide internal consultancy to State management teams to ensure linehaul transit times are monitored and issues addressed.
  • Ensure State Accreditation is maintained and all compliance matters are achieved.

People, Safety & Community

  • Lead a culture within the Function that fosters the One Australia Post approach, focuses on safety & wellbeing and puts the customer at the forefront of all activities and decisions
  • Actively manage and role model safety, health and wellbeing
  • Provide effective leadership to operations and/or project teams, setting clear goals and expectations and motivating and inspiring members of the team to deliver against objectives.
  • Act as a collaborative and active member of the ST/AP community who identifies and utilises resources and networks to meet quality standards and deadlines and consistently grows the reputation of Transport and Linehaul within the company and for our customers.

Role Requirements:

  • Significant experience with influencing leadership behaviours to achieve safety outcomes.
  • Managing stakeholder relationships including government and community
  • Executing and delivering results through others
  • Collaborating in a crossfunctional team environment
  • Regulatory procedures and requirements.
  • Understanding of Industrial Relations and WHS requirements.
  • Business analysis, understanding key financial tools and management reporting
  • Communication skill with a demonstrated ability to converse with industry employees and all levels of employment.
