The Social Media & Content Creator is a key, creative role instrumental in inspiring a global feminist conversation and igniting social change, while growing The Equality Institute's (EQI) brand and improving engagement with EQI's communities.

- $7- 85K (FTE) per annum excluding superannuation

In this role, you'll be responsible for planning, coordinating, and creating content for The Equality Institute's (EQI) social media channels including writing copy for eDMs and digital platforms and assets.


You'll have the opportunity to work closely and collaboratively with all teams at EQI, and, importantly, work strategically to help advance gender equality and end violence against women and girls through bold, innovative and creative communications.


Who you are (essential):

  • You are someone who gained a tertiary degree in marketing, communications, journalism, public relations, or related field/s
  • You have at least three years' demonstrated experience in the fields of social media marketing, communications, journalism, or equivalent fields
  • You're someone who loves to be part of the conversation when it comes to advancing gender equality and you're always across what's happening in the media, pop culture and political landscape
  • You believe in the potential of social media and you're excited to find innovative and engaging ways to use social media to bring people together, educate, and amplify the impact of
  • You're highly organised and love to plan and analyse data and analytics to see what's working and improve future efforts
  • You have demonstrated your ability to create engaging social media content and adapt that content for different audiences and across different channels
  • You're passionate about listening to, learning from, and growing EQI's online communities
  • You are aligned and committed to the principles of intersectional feminism and have a passion for advancing gender equality just like us You have a keen interest in gender and genderbased violence violence prevention, women's rights and empowerment, and/or feminist advocacy
  • You are a people person, which makes you an excellent communicator and collaborator
  • Your communication skills are highly developed, clear and most importantly inclusive.

Who you might be (desirable but not essential):

  • You're proficient in using Adobe Creative Suite (Indesign, Photoshop, Illustrator) templates to create visuals for social media
  • You have skills in video editing and basic motion graphics
  • You have experience in using various CMS and CRMs
  • You have previous experience in, or knowledge of, gender studies, international development, behaviour change and social norms change frameworks, and how these relate to communications.
