Fixed and Mobile Plant Mechanic

An essential requirement for joining the Australian Defence Force (ADF) is that you must hold Australian citizenship. If you do not meet the citizenship criteria for ADF service, we are unable to consider your application. Your Role:
Join the Navy team as a skilled tradesperson responsible for maintaining the operational efficiency of ships. Whether you are an experienced tradesperson, an apprentice, or new to the field, you will start receiving pay from your first day on the job.
As a Fixed and Mobile Plant Mechanic (referred to as Marine Technician – Propulsion in the Navy), you will undergo comprehensive on-the-job training to acquire all necessary skills. You will also earn a Certificate III in Engineering – Fixed and Mobile Plant Mechanic, with opportunities for further qualifications (up to a Diploma level). If you already hold relevant qualifications, you may be eligible for recognition of prior learning.

Submariner Role:
You also have the possibility to specialize as a Fixed and Mobile Plant Mechanic Submariner and become part of Australia's most exclusive and secure workforce. In this position, your responsibilities will include operating, repairing, and maintaining submarine propulsion and auxiliary systems, which involve hydraulic systems, engines, weapon discharge mechanisms, and monitoring systems.
Salary:
Upon completing your initial military and job training, you will receive a salary starting from $75,451 for surface fleet roles and $94,054 for submariner positions.
