About the team
Our SEQ Network Maintenance business delivers infrastructure services, construction, maintenance, asset management and development.


This position sits within the Signalling Asset Renewals Electrical team based at our Qantas Drive Multi User Depot located in the Brisbane Airport precinct.

The team work throughout the entire Queensland Rail Network at sites across the State.

About the role

  • Assist with the installation, renewal and upgrade of trackside systems equipment and infrastructure.
  • Adjust and set mechanical equipment tolerances.
  • Install electric and pneumatic motorized points machines.


There is a varied array of rail specific infrastructure that you will work with such as Points Machines, Level Crossing and Pedestrian Crossing Mechanisms as well as civil and site works for equipment hut foundations, cable route pit and pipe installation works.

We are looking for:

  • Selfmotivated labourer / TA who wants to learn and expand their skills
  • Concreting and foundation experience
  • Basic fabrication skills
  • Hold a Drivers Licence

The team work throughout the entire Queensland Rail Network at sites across the State and as such there will be a requirement to work away from home roughly 80% as part of fulfilling this role.

In both SEQ and regionally hours are usually 0600hrs to 1600hrs. At times night shift is required based on business needs.


Pertaining to regional working rotations that make up part of the job remit, the team work a 10 day block traveling Tuesday and returning on the Thursday of the second week, working through the weekend.

When working in SEQ the team work a 4 day week with either Monday or Friday as a RDO. Weekend work is regularly required but usually classified as OT with penalty rates.

This is a permanent opportunity.

Working the current roster on average including penalty rates and working away allowances a Signalling Mechanical Support Maintainer earns roughly $85,000 to $100,000 depending on volume of regional work undertaken plus up to 12.75% superannuation.
