About the team:

The Ministerial and Executive Enabling branch provides a range of support and assistance to the Executive and our Ministers.

This includes the planning and reporting framework required under relevant legislation, parliamentary and Cabinet support, governance support, internal audit and enterprise risk management.

The Portfolio Appointments and Governance Support Team manages departmental governance arrangements. This includes strategic and secretariat support for the Executive Board and its sub-committees.

The team ensures key departmental decisions are made by the right people, at the right time, supported by efficient and robust processes.

This enables the Secretary, as the Accountable Authority to fulfil their obligations under various legislative instruments, APS, and departmental policies.

The team is the central point of contact for the department on all portfolio appointments.

The team provides strategic advice and support to the department and its ministerial offices for statutory and non-statutory appointments to portfolio boards and committees.

APS- Governance Administrative Support Officer

What you will do:

As an
APS5 Governance Administrative Support Officer, you will:

  • Provide coordination, logistics, engagement assistance and support for board/committee(s) activities.
  • Prepare agendas and relevant board/committee papers.
  • Schedule meetings and liaise with stakeholders and committee members.
  • Provide advice on coordination/logístical matters.
  • Draft briefing material, meeting minutes and written communications.
  • Maintain membership records and board/committee databases.

As an
APS6 Governance Committee Manager, you will:


  • Work across the team to ensure all committees are supported to a consistently high standard.
  • Provide advice on policy, program and corporate matters relating to committee business as required.
  • Coordinate and maintain meeting schedules, agendas, and forward planning.
  • Produce high quality written material and advice, including but not limited to drafting ministerial and Chair briefings, meeting minutes, and preparing communications for both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Mentor and guide junior staff.

Notes:

Experience in governance, particularly managing committees is desirable, as well as an awareness of portfolio appointments processes. Stakeholder and team management skills are key to success in this role.
