About the Role
ALS Food & Pharmaceutical operates a modern laboratory in Sydney (Rydalmere) that is equipped with the latest in analytical technology. We are seeking a full time HPLC Team Leader to be primarily responsible for leading our team of HPLC technicians. You'll be a great people leader, communicator and have a very strong HPLC background with proven analytical and practical problem-solving skills within a GMP environment.

The day to day
The successful applicant will undertake a range of duties including but not limited to the following:

  • Train, coach and develop staff to ensure technical knowledge is shared across the team.
  • Completing routine laboratory testing.
  • Demonstrating operational capability in all aspects of testing.
  • Provide technical advice and guidance to staff.
  • Data processing.
  • Approval of test results.
  • Identifying Out of Specification / Out of Trend test results and inform supervisor to ensure investigation is started within required time frame.
  • Understand and apply GLP.
  • Assist Production Manager with planning and meeting deadlines for analysis.
  • Responsible for the maintenance and operation of instrumentation where needed.
  • Autonomy to independently undertake tests and interpret results based on approved methods and harness the resources to conduct the test.
  • Ensure that QC is performed as required by the ALS F&P Quality Systems.
  • Alert Production Manager of any technical issues with equipment, methods, QC results.
  • Follow test methodologies and associated procedures.
  • Involved in identifying process improvement within the laboratory.

The Essentials

  • A Diploma or bachelor's degree in science (preferably Chemistry).
  • 3 years' laboratory experience.
  • Demonstrated technical leadership.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent computer literacy
  • Familiarity with LIMS as required.
