Selection Criteria
  • Possession of a degree in librarianship providing eligibility for Associate (professional) membership to ALIA, together with relevant work experience in a library.
  • Demonstrated experience managing library operations, library services, and staff to deliver high-quality services, including help desk services, research and reference assistance, readers advisory, and circulation tasks.
  • Demonstrated experience using technical functions of library management systems, working with print and electronic library resources, and knowledge of library AV services.
  • Demonstrated experience undertaking major collection management projects.
  • Demonstrated technology skills including office software, social media, and new technologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, deliver, and promote client-focused library and information services using excellent customer service and high-level interpersonal and communication skills.

Role
  • No additional attendance required for this position.
  • Range 4 is distinguished by broader management responsibility, particularly in the areas of finance, human resources, and other support functions.
  • Range 4 is responsible for managing a range of functions under various conditions, subject to the size and complexity of school operations.
  • Objectives will be clearly defined, and guidelines will be broad with minimal day-to-day direction.
  • Management responsibility extends to ensuring appropriate support levels are maintained across the school.
  • Provides key support and timely advice to the leadership team and school council and liaises with the general school community, the Department, and other government agencies and service providers.
  • Specialised professional roles will carry a high level of independence and accountability where suitable scope is provided to achieve objectives.
  • An education support class position supports the educational services being provided to students.
  • Supervision of students cannot be required except where it is an integral part of the employee's position.

Key Responsibilities
  • Library operations
  • Co-ordinate and perform tasks for the efficient day-to-day operation of the library.
  • Apply information management practices and systems consistent with best practice.

Qualifications

A degree in librarianship, experience coordinating Library Management Systems, and familiarity with Resource, Description, and Access (RDA) implementation are necessary for this role.


Experience in a school library environment and a passion for the provision of innovative library services are also key qualifications.


Notes on Role

Supervision of students is an integral part of this position. Staffing hours allow for student access before and after school and during private study periods.


Current opening times are specific to weekdays, and breaks are coordinated to ensure continuous library services.
