Our School of Creative Arts is currently needing someone who has strong technical support skills to work with our Visual Arts, Theatre and Music, and Film, Radio and TV specialisations.


Who you are:

  • You will possess strong technical and event management skills, and ideally have prior experience within an arts organisation or higher education/teaching environment.
  • You will be able to provide highlevel support and facilitation of processes relating to creative arts, theatre, art studio and workshop operation. This may involve managing equipment, troubleshooting technical issues, ensuring safety protocols are followed, and managing resource support.
  • You will be experienced in the planning and coordination of events and functions such as exhibitions, productions and concerts.
  • You will have a 'cando' attitude, with strong administrative and people management skills, and an ability to set appropriate goals, prioritise work and report on outcomes.

What you'll do:

  • This position provides leadership and direction to the Creative Arts disciplinefocused technical team which supports the areas of Visual Arts, Theatre and Music, Interactive Design Technologies, Film, TV and Radio. This includes specialised knowledge of the technical requirements of these areas and the planning of resources and budgets to support a range of functions that deliver technical support for the school, theatre, workshop, studio, and general teaching space support functions.
  • You will be required to plan and coordinate events and functions including exhibitions, productions, film screenings and concerts as required within the School of Creative Arts. This will require that you engage with internal and external stakeholders (such as catering, security, Marketing) to facilitate the successful delivery of the function.
  • As a senior leader of this dynamic team, you will demonstrate an ability to contribute at a high level to the continuous improvement of service delivery through the implementation and review of processes to support the work area in delivering an effective practical learning experience for students.

What will help you succeed:

  • It is essential you hold degree level Tertiary qualifications in a relevant Creative Arts discipline with extensive management expertise in a technical, theatre, studio or workshop environment, or specialist expertise in a technical field, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/ training.
  • Substantial technical expertise in the Creative/Performing Arts area with a knowledge of advanced equipment, techniques and procedures used in practical classes, events and research activities, including the ability to train others in the use of such equipment and procedures.
  • An ability to work within a team and have strong people skills due to the array of projects and activities that occur within the School of Creative Arts.
  • An understanding of the arts industry or the higher education sector and universities in general, and expert knowledge of the technical support and facilities that support the delivery of relevant academic programs.
  • A willingness to travel to other campuses.
