About this Role

The main goal of this position is to lead, mentor, and develop a team of litigation experts. You will ensure that customers promptly and effectively receive responses to their workers' compensation claims disputes, both internal and external, including pre-litigation and litigation.

Responsibilities

It's a dynamic period at icare where every day presents new challenges. As a Dispute Resolution and Litigation Leader, you will:

  • Oversee a team of Litigation Experts handling and responding to requests for internal review by an insurer regarding liability decisions on workers' compensation claims.
  • Manage a team of Litigation Experts handling and responding to applications for dispute resolution before the Personal Injury Commission and other legal proceedings before the Courts.
  • Drive successful results and prevent unnecessary disputes.
  • Utilize and update relevant claims management and customer relationship systems.
  • Ensure adherence to legal deadlines and actuarial objectives.
  • Stay informed about decision-making trends and educate teams on emerging issues in pre-litigation and litigation cases.
  • Conduct research and prepare position papers for scheme-wide policy resolutions and regulatory modifications.
  • Cultivate external relationships to bolster icare's business model and anticipate potential repercussions.
  • Engage in customer experience initiatives and collaborate with other icare departments to achieve business goals.

  • Thorough understanding of workers' insurance legislation and a solid grasp of the NSW workers' insurance scheme operation is advantageous.
  • Admission as a legal practitioner to the Supreme Court of NSW with an unrestricted practicing certificate is highly regarded.
