Brisbane Office.

Overall Role Purpose
As an
Ocean Freight Cartage Specialist, you will be responsible for:

  • Processes, handles and distributes all required documents in the receiving areas to nominated cartage contractors
  • Ensures customer requirements are met and document distribution is completed in a timely and efficient manner with preference of competing priorities
  • Supporting the team as required with adhoc requirements.

_Accountabilities_

Customer & Other Stakeholders

  • Creates/confirms transport order to ensure delivery of the shipment to the final customer
  • Performs booking and booking optimization
  • Prepares, controls and distributes all required Import documents to counterparts (carrier, consignee, supplier, etc)
  • Checks responses from counterparts and finalizes validation of required documents
  • Followsup shipment status, identifies incidents and ensures resolution of incidents
  • Supports Customer Service and the broader business in the incident and exception management resolution
  • Maintains excellent relationships with Suppliers & Customers
  • Is responsible for identifying performance issues of suppliers, and proposes solutions to improve/correct performance
  • Performs IT systems related tasks to provide up to date information on shipment
  • Support the team by positive influencing successful outcomes acting as a coordinator / mentor supporting the other team members.

_Required Qualifications_

  • Previous experience in Shipping/International freight forwarding industry in airfreight and/or oceanfreight / Import operational and/or Cartage roles (advantageous)
  • Minimum three (3) years previous experience in Operations
  • Ocean Freight Import / Administration experience / customer service or Cartage or similar
  • Sound knowledge of Freight Forwarding and Logistics in general;
  • CargoWise1 system experience preferred
  • Expedient system experience preferred
