About the role

$100K - $107K plus 17% Superannuation and annual leave loading
- Fixed Term 1 years (possible extension of a further 2 years based on performance and funding)
- Fulltime (35 hours per week)
Specific responsibilities for this role include:
- Conducts research in the area of OMEGA Silicon independently and as part of a team
This role emphasises:
- Organic molecular optoelectronic device fabrication and characterisation.
- Silicon solar cell device fabrication
- OMEGA device integration and characterisation
- Contribute to the writing of scientific papers and reports for international journals and progress reporting to other researchers and industry partners.
- Assist with the coordination of research activities and actively contribute to research outputs to meet project milestones.
- Participate in and/or present at conferences and/or workshops relevant to the project as required.
- Assist with the supervision of research students in the research area where required.
- Develop and optimize many approaches, balancing scientific understanding with rapid technology development.
- Analyse and interpret research data, communicate findings to the supervisors and assist with the preparation of data for publication.
- Develop a culture of continuous improvement by promoting the pursuit of excellence in all practices in the laboratory.
- Other appropriate tasks assigned by the supervisor, relevant and consistent with the position.

About the successful applicant

To be successful in this role you will have:
- A PhD in a related discipline, and/or relevant work experience.
- Demonstrated experience in Organic molecular optoelectronic device fabrication and characterisation.
- Demonstrated experience in Optical spectroscopy and electrical characterisation of optoelectronic devices.
- Proven commitment to proactively keeping up to date with discipline knowledge and developments.
- Demonstrated ability to undertake high quality academic research and conduct independent research with limited supervision.
- Demonstrated track record of publications and conference presentations relative to opportunity.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team, collaborate across disciplines and build effective relationships.
- Evidence of highly developed interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate and interact with a diverse range of stakeholders and students.
- An understanding of and commitment to UNSW's aims, objectives and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.
- Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.
Desirable:
- Organic/inorganic hybrid interfaces: Emphasis on Inorganic interface functionalisation with organic materials, interface morphology and spectroscopic analysis (e.g. GIWAXS, UPS, XPS).
- Silicon solar cell fabrication and analysis; solar cell fabrication (from silicon wafers to solar cells including HF etching, diffusion, passivation and metallisation) and analysis (e.g. I-V, EQE, PL, EL, LBIC).
