About the Role

The Indigenous Industry Engagement Coordinator STEM will provide efficient and effective industry engagement support for the recruitment of placement sites for students that support the health, wellbeing and endeavours of Indigenous Australians whilst also aligning to Program needs and College & University strategy and values. This role's primary focus will be to liaise with industry professionals with significant Indigenous activity and College staff to source quality Work Integrated Learning placements.

The Indigenous Industry Engagement Coordinator STEM will also support Work Integrated Learning (WIL) /Industry Engagement events for partners and develop marketing materials to recruit new WIL placement sites. This role will also be required to actively contribute to the team culture and seek continuous improvement of processes and systems, while also mitigating risk.

About You

To be successful for the appointment, you will have:

  • Aboriginality' or 'Must be of Australian Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander heritage' is an 'Essential Selection Criteria'
  • An understanding of the issues affecting Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people and a high-level ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples
  • The ability to work and promote STEM College programs and align them to Indigenous led / Indigenous focused industries, assisting Indigenous partners to develop suitable project/placement WIL opportunities
  • An understanding of the Indigenous industry sectors whose activities could align to the STEM College programs and their relation to Work Integrated Learning
  • Great communication, relationship building, and negotiation skills enabling collaborative discussions between Indigenous organisations, the STEM industry sector and the University
  • The ability to work across a business development workflow and nurturing effective relationships at all levels within organisations
  • Problem-solving skills, with the ability to act without specific direction where appropriate and adjust workload priorities to meet conflicting deadlines.
  • Proficiency in computer software packages such as Office365, Salesforce, smartsheets, working with accuracy and attention to detail.

Qualifications

Relevant qualification and/or relevant industry experience.

*Note - This is an Identified position and being an Australian Aboriginal and/ or Torres Strait Islander is considered a 'genuine occupational qualification' in accordance with s(12) of the Equal Opportunity Act 2010.
