About the roleIn this role you will be part of a small team of like-minded and motivated professionals with a passion for safety and health regulation in the resources sector.

Reporting to a Manager, you will play a key role in supporting RSHQ's executive leadership team deliver on RSHQ's objectives, including its strategic plan.

Working across a diverse range of policy issues and legislation, you will be equipped to excel in this role if you have a strong background in policy and legislation, a solutions-focussed approach, great personal leadership skills and a positive attitude.

The team provides policy advice and develops legislation across the agency on a broad range of matters and this includes:

  • Interpreting complex legislation and working with coal, mineral mines, petroleum & gas and explosives inspectorates to identify policy issues and recommend innovative options to resolve them using a risk based data driven approach.
  • Progressing legislative amendments including the RSHQ Omnibus Bill which is aimed at reducing the rates of serious accidents and fatalities and to support the Queensland resources sector in implementing approaches consistent with High Reliability Organisation theory.
- highly experienced in complex legislation and Cabinet and Parliamentary procedures
- motivated to provide practical, solutions-focussed and risk based policy advice that effectively balances competing objectives
