What you will be doing:


An exciting opportunity is available for a clinical coder to join the Blue Mountains team on a part time basis.

The Clinical Coder is responsible for the accurate and timely coding of inpatient episodes of care, in accordance with the Australian coding standards and other relevant documents.

Other responsibilities include maintaining ethical coding practice and participating in quality activities.

An eligibility list may be created for future vacancies.

Selection Criteria to be Addressed:

  • Completion of a recognised ICD10AM/ACHI/ACS coding course or relevant tertiary qualification in Health Information Management (Medical Record Librarian / Administrator). Knowledge of current Australian Coding Standards.
  • Demonstrated experience in using computerised patient data bases, electronic medical record and clinical systems.
  • Demonstrated high level attention to detail, with demonstrated excellence in organization and time management, with the ability to manage competing priorities and daily targets.
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to change.
  • Demonstrated written English and verbal communication skills, ability to communicate effectively in all forms. Friendly, positive and enthusiastic attitude.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both in an unsupervised environment and within a team with excellent interpersonal skills achieving team goals.
  • Commitment to continuing professional development and to working in a continuous quality environment
