We are seeking enthusiastic Senior Youth Workers and Resi House Managers to directly support vulnerable young people in need of assistance in our Toowoomba location.

As their mentor, you will assist them in developing essential life skills, fostering healthy relationships, and providing crucial support when they require it the most. Together, you will navigate challenges, with the shared goal of guiding them towards a fulfilled and independent life.

Advocating for a young person's sense of belonging while promoting their independence offers a highly rewarding career path.

Travel within the Toowoomba region will be a key requirement for this role.

The Senior Youth Worker position entails full-time employment and necessitates availability across all 7 days, with a roster comprising a minimum of 5 x 24-hour shifts per fortnight.

House Managers are expected to work between 14-18 non-contact hours and 20-24 contact hours, based on their level. On-call duties vary from 3.5 to 5 days per week, depending on the area's needs. During on-call hours, the case manager must be available to offer advice and guidance.

Essential Requirements

  • A minimum of 1 year working with children exhibiting challenging behaviors, including verbal and physical aggression, in a residential or out-of-home care setting
  • Willingness to engage in shift work and overnight stays
  • Capacity to adapt to changing rosters and on-call responsibilities at short notice
  • Participation in team meetings, staff training, and supervision as necessary
  • Successful completion of relevant background checks and screening procedures
  • Hold a valid Australian Driver's License or the ability to obtain one

Essential Skills and Attributes

  • Familiarity with the challenges faced by children in out-of-home care, the effects of childhood trauma and abuse, and crisis intervention techniques
  • Understanding of case management models within residential care facilities
  • Acknowledgement of the intense nature of working with young people and its potential implications on personal and family responsibilities
  • Capability to work independently in a remote setting with established protocols
  • Ability to lead and establish effective team processes and systems
  • Proficiency in using various computer programs like Microsoft Word, Excel, and web-based systems
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including negotiation and networking abilities as well as report drafting
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills

The successful candidate will possess:

  • A completed Certificate IV in Child, Youth and Family Intervention or equivalent
  • Experience in Case Management and Resi House Management
  • Prior experience in leading teams of youth workers
  • Experience in managing house operations and schedules
  • Active Blue Card (Working with Children Check)
  • Australian Driver's License
  • Full Working Rights in Australia
  • A positive and resilient attitude
