We have an opportunity for a Mechanical Team Leader to join our 100+ year strong company, within our Bar Mill section.


The role:


Based at our Waratah site, this role is responsible for overseeing and managing all mechanical maintenance activities within the department, and leading a highly capable team of Maintenance Fitters, Boilermakers and Apprentices.

You will champion our safety culture and ensure our 'Zero Harm' standards are adhered to.


Your strong leadership and influencing skills will be keys to your success in driving a high-performance team and a culture of continuous improvement.

You'll be using your strong understanding in mechanical trades and leadership to:

  • Plan, prioritise, delegate, evaluate and schedule maintenance activities for the Bar Mill maintenance team
  • Conduct failure analyses and make recommendations to continuously improve processes and equipment
  • Manage ongoing team performance, training and development to achieve optimal performance
  • Contribute to the management of the departmental maintenance costs;
  • Manage external contractors to meet project and maintenance objectives
  • Maintain a line of communication with all relevant stakeholders on the status of breakdowns impacting production loss and maintenance shutdowns

About you:

  • Qualifications and experience within a mechanical engineering or a mechanical trade (essential)
  • Demonstrated experience within heavy industry is preferred
  • A strong understanding of maintenance principles in a manufacturing setting
  • Experience interpreting data and trends and making recommendations on timely, sound and costeffective maintenance solutions
  • A strong backrgound in planning and scheduling processes
  • Ability to lead a multidisciplined team
  • Sound computer literacy (Microsoft Office suite)
