Description:

About You

We require a talented Design Coordinator to join the business working across pre construction stages. Diverse projects across apartment sector including design and construct, as drawn and own developments. Projects range up to $50m. You will report to the Preconstruction Manager.

The Office


Temporary offices located at southern end of St Kilda Rd for the next 2 months whilst new custom and purpose-built headquarters are underway for our move to the heart of South Melbourne in mid-2024.

Adequate offsite parking is available and is steps away from South Melbourne Market, close to plenty of restaurants, cafes and bars.

Skills and Experiences:

About the role

  • Minimum of 5 years' relevant design coordination experience supporting design development ideally within commercial, multistorey or mixed used project in a D&C environment (not residential);
  • Tertiary qualifications in Architecture/Engineering/Construction Management experience preferred;
  • A good understanding of BCA and AS requirements, specifications, understanding technical direction, issue resolution, ensuring quality assurance;
  • Experience with construction documentation;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential, with a cooperative approach to achieving effective design outcomes;
  • Ability to drive performance within the design process to ensure design documentation is completed on time and fully integrated with reviewer's feedback;
  • An actionorientated individual with the ability to work in a fastpaced team, with changing priorities and timelines;
  • Interpersonal skills and the ability to build, maintain and influence relationships with a range of stakeholders, including consultants, to enable the effective delivery of project design services.
Key responsibilities

  • Efficient planning and execution of works;
  • Tender documentation control;
  • Assist in obtaining multiple trade quotations;
  • Prepare value management presentations;
  • Assist with the preparation and drafting of logistics plans;
  • Documentation reviews, in line with statutory and legislative, construction and operational requirements;
  • Prepare and manage company VM and Offer schedule until handover to construction teams;
  • Ensure design activities are properly coordinated in respect to interdiscipline and functional interface issues;
  • Prepare and manage Building Permit Matrix including council and authority approvals;
  • Prepare and manage Protection Works Notice process;
  • Manage submissions of secondary consent;
  • Prepare design meeting minutes;
  • Prepare handover presentations to construction teams;
  • Answer RFI's;
  • Facilitate the resolution of any design issues from a technical and/or construction perspective;
Facilitate design issues which may arise out of value engineering or interface with external bodies;

  • Assist in any design changes and approval process;
  • General assistance and administration as required;
  • Excellent skills in CAD and MS OFFICE and MS Project.
