Due to an internal promotion at our B9 Botany Paper Mill, we are excited to be able to offer an opportunity to join our Opal Paper & Recycling business as the General Manager Operations for our Botany site in Sydney, NSW.


At our state-of-the-art recycling and paper manufacturing facility you will be responsible for executing the business strategy for this key operation within a significant organisational division.

Ensuring we continue to enhance Opal's position as market leader in the paper and packaging sector in ANZ.


Reporting to the Group General Manager Paper & Recycling, the key priority for this role is to deliver efficient operational performance in a cost effective and safe manner.

You will need outstanding internal and external stakeholder relations, balanced with striving for continually improving operational standards and efficiencies, to achieve these objectives.

At the centre of this will be best practice safety and people management practices and the ability to manage through complex and challenging change processes.

Specifically for this role, we expect you will have;

  • Operations leadership experience within the paper manufacturing industry, including P&L ownership and management
  • Experience of leading teams through complex change programs
  • Proven experience in driving operational performance
  • Deep analytical capability and ability to convert data and information to strategic priorities
  • Demonstrated the ability to have tough conversations and respectfully challenge thinking to gain new answers
  • Led teams in a unionised environment and experience managing various Enterprise Agreements
