About the role


We are looking for a Manager, Governance and Business Resilience to lead a team to deliver effective and efficient governance practices, including the development and execution of comprehensive governance strategies encompassing risk management, compliance, business continuity, and development and management of corporate policies at NSW Fair Trading, aimed at bolstering organisational resilience, minimising risks, ensuring regulatory adherence, and fostering a culture of sound decision-making and regulatory compliance.


The Manager Governance, Risk and Compliance drives and shapes the systems and functions that support strong organisational decision-making, minimises risks and ensures regulatory compliance, embeds continuous improvement and contributes to a robust culture of integrity and risk management.


About you


We are looking for an outcomes-focused, lateral thinker, with demonstrated experience leading governance, risk management and compliance functions across a large and complex organisation.


You have the ability to influence and drive continuous improvements and initiatives that strengthen strategic outcomes and build stronger systems of assurance and oversight across a large, complex environment.


You can analyse large volumes of data to identify trends, insights, and emerging risks and can develop clear plans to mitigate and control these risks - always looking for opportunities for improvement.


You translate your analysis and insights into clear deliverables by effectively and appropriately communicating with senior leaders and reporting on the risk and governance landscape in a clear and concise manner.


You are passionate about creating a risk management culture, by working with the business areas to identify risks and mitigating controls to manage key business risks and embed the risk management framework into key activities.


You have excellent written communication skills across a variety of mediums to convey outcomes to leaders, staff, and the NSW community.


You are an experienced people leader who can motivate a team to deliver their best work in a supportive environment.


To be successful in the role you will have:

  • With demonstrated extensive experience in leading governance, risk management and compliance functions within a large and complex organisation, including relevant qualifications or equivalent experience.
  • Capacity to quickly develop a sound knowledge and understanding of NSW Fair Trading.
  • Experience communicating effectively with senior leaders.
  • Excellent people management skills with the capacity to manage complex and sensitive issues.
  • Passion for consumer protection ensuring that the NSW community can buy, sell and rent with confidence.
Salary Grade 11/12, with the base salary for this role starting at $139787 base plus superannuation
