The opportunity


The Red Cross Red Crescent Global Migration Lab (the Lab) hosted by Australian Red Cross supports global Red Cross and Red Crescent humanitarian diplomacy and advocacy by producing evidence-based research designed to promote the safety, dignity, and wellbeing of migrants.

In partnership with local organisations and academic institutions, the Lab produces regional and global insights and recommendations to address humanitarian needs and impacts related to migration.


This role has accountability to manage the planning, implementation, execution and monitoring of research and advocacy projects and to contribute to the strategic direction and research agenda of the Global Migration Lab.

Reporting to the Lab Director and in close coordination with Lab staff responsible for policy and research, the Program Manager will identify, plan and coordinate the implementation of projects that support the strategic objectives of the Lab

What you will bring

  • Ability to identify and define problems and manage projects concerning migrationrelated humanitarian assistance and protection
  • Understanding of global migration governance and capacity to use a global lens when approaching issues
  • Capacity to move comfortably through complex policy, process, and peoplerelated organisational dynamics
  • Capacity to actively listen and commitment to understanding diverse perspectives and lived experiences
  • Ability to actively seek, listen to, learn, and grow in response to feedback
  • Ability to achieve the best outcomes by bringing people together to work towards common goals (both internally and with external partners)
  • Faces new opportunities, difficult challenges, change, and uncertainty with courage, compassion, and enthusiasm
