Applications are invited from suitably qualified medical practitioners for the above position (s) in the Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District.

The position will be primarily located at Nepean Hospital
_within_ the Department of
Intensive Care.
***Successful applicants should be highly motivated and a competent intensive care specialist, registered with AHPRA.

The clinical load will be as per the clinical roster in keeping with 1.0FTE. The roster will be shared appropriately among total of 9 staff specialists within the unit (of varying FTE).

On call requirements would be as per roster approximately 1 in 8 on call, as well as a dedicated non-clinical load (eg: administration, teaching, supervision, QA, research).

Appointees may be eligible for credentialing and privileging across all other facilities in the Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District.

  • 1. Possess registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • 2. Possess Fellowship of the College of Intensive Care Medicine (CICM)

and/or equivalent specialist recognition as provided for by the Health Insurance Act 1997 and Staff Specialists (State) Award.

  • 3. Sound clinical knowledge in Intensive Care Medicine demonstrated through successful clinical practice in an environment appropriate to the requirements of the position including high level interpersonal and communication skills and demonstrated ability working within a multidisciplinary team; evidence of participation in quality assurance activities relevant to the specialty; and relevant qualifications and/or appropriate postFellowship clinical experience.

Demonstrated considerable commitment to teaching and junior medical staff supervision (eg:

consistent with contemporary best practice supervision standards) to be able to fill role of Head of Education for the Department of Intensive Care Medicine (eg: administration, rostering education activities, run courses etc.

)

  • 5. Possess (or in process of obtaining) advanced echocardiography qualifications to enable formal transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiography reporting at level of Cardiologist.
  • 6. Demonstrates the skills and attitudes appropriate for practice as a Senior Medical Practitioner including modelling of a high standard of professional behavior to junior medical staff.
  • 7. Familiarity with research concepts and commitment to support basic, applied, or clinical research as required within the Department.
