Details:

Hours per fortnight: 73.50 hours with flexible options available.

Duties:

  • Coordinate Civil Law programs in line with policies and regulations to support the Associate Director Civil Law.
  • Provide high-level legal advice and support to staff, clients, and stakeholders.
  • Offer guidance, training, and support to legal practitioners for effective program outcomes.
  • Handle complex civil matters before the Courts and Tribunals.
  • Work with the Associate Director Civil Law to develop service delivery improvement initiatives and programs.
  • Manage aspects of staff including leave, performance, and training.
  • Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders to enhance our work and provide comprehensive assistance to clients.
  • Engage in community legal education activities and service development.
  • Undertake legal research to support law reform and complex legal matters.
  • Prepare reports as necessary.
  • Perform other legal work within the organization as needed.

Essential Requirements:

  • Admitted or eligible as a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Tasmania and Federal Courts of Australia.
  • Current Tasmanian Registration to Work with Vulnerable People.

Desirable Requirements:

  • More than 5 years' post-admission experience as a Legal Practitioner.
  • Experience in managing others and advocacy in civil litigation.
  • Current Motor Vehicle Driver's Licence.
