About the role

The Certification Team Leader is responsible for managing the day-to-day activities of the Certification Team to provide for efficient and appropriate assessment of Construction Certificates, Occupation Certificates, Complying Development Certificates and Building Certificates as well as undertaking relevant inspections to ensure building and safety standards are maintained.

You will be leading a team of four officers and effectively managing their workload while providing accurate and consistent advice to internal and external stakeholders in respect to certification matters. You will be innovative in solving issues within the legislative framework of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979, Local Government Act 1993, Australian Standards and other relevant legislation.

Requirements

  • Tertiary qualifications in Building Surveying or equivalent related qualification together with significant practical experience within NSW Local Government
  • Qualification as an Accredited Certifier in NSW under the Building Professionals Act 2005 and Building Professionals Regulation 2007
  • Assist the Council in legal matters relating to certification, including in the NSW Land and Environment Court
  • Proven ability to supervise, provide leadership and work effectively in a small team
  • Well-developed interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills including demonstrated experience and skills in negotiation and conflict resolution
  • Demonstrated organisational skills including the capacity to set priorities and meet deadlines in an environment with competing priorities
  • Class C Drivers Licence
