We are seeking a Distribution Centre Manager to oversee the management and day-to-day activities of our distribution centre in Townsville, Queensland. The ideal candidate should be a seasoned logistics professional with robust leadership abilities and a hands-on approach to efficiently and effectively managing operations.

What will you do?

  • Provide visible safety leadership to Townsville DC team (On site yard, off site yard and operation), lead safety as a core value for the site
  • Achieve cost, operational KPI and service metrics set for the site and team
  • Ensure that service levels, productivity targets and cost reductions are optimised
  • Establish and maintain transparent and collaborative working routines with Sales and Manufacturing peers to work to best-possible operational and customer outcomes
  • Develop and instil a safety-first culture through visible effective leadership and workforce engagement to achieve the best possible standards of workplace safety
  • Review monthly financial reports with the National Distribution Manager against budgeted plans and develop corrective action plan to address variances to KPI's
  • Provide leadership to enable Team Leaders to collaborate, negotiate and build alliances with internal departments such as sales, product management, production and finance

About you

  • Cert IV qualification in a relevant field preferred
  • Experience in heavy industry or construction supply chains advantageous
  • Coal, Seam Gas industry experience advantageous
  • Minimum 5+ years relevant work experience in a distribution leadership role
  • Ability to effectively balance front line leadership with strategic initiatives (70% of the role is focused on tactical operations);
  • Demonstrated commitment to the implementation of best practice across distribution, logistics, inventory, safety, quality and stakeholder management
  • Experience in process improvement and project management to ensure risks are articulated and managed accordingly;
  • Advanced skills in team development, with experience in coaching, mentoring and enabling employees to achieve set goals;
