The Team


You will join a team of staff across the country that ensures the proper conduct of the election and upholds the Electoral Integrity Framework.

You will work across a diverse and dispersed network, working closely with our State Office, National Office and the other states and territories.


At the AEC you will develop strong connections with colleagues and supportive networks, as we all work to deliver an impartial and independent electoral system with high integrity.


The Opportunity


The AEC is seeking motivated and resilient people, with ability to contribute to organisational outcomes and work collaboratively, supporting the Team Leader, Assistant Team Leaders and Project Manager whilst working within a small team.

You will have commitment to building sustainable relationships with internal and external stakeholders whilst working collaboratively with peers and staff.

There are multiple opportunities currently available, at the APS 4 classification, both ongoing and non-ongoing, across our Enrolment Supervisor and Project Officer cohort.


Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Process enrolment transactions by entering, checking, and verifying information and making decisions based on AEC policies.
  • Undertake Electoral Roll integrity assurance and maintenance activities in line with AEC policy.
  • Respond to public enquiries relating to enrolment and electoral matters more broadly.
  • Make decisions and resolve issues with some guidance from more senior staff.
  • Contribute to election planning and delivery in line with Work Program responsibilities.
  • Escalate complex issues as required.
  • Supervise and provide operational support to small teams during businessasusual operations, increasing to medium sized teams during election periods.

Project Officers are responsible for general administrative tasks, project management, team leadership, and delivery of staff training. At the direction of the Team Leader, you will also assist with other duties as required to support the successful delivery of events.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Support the delivery of human resource, training, procurement, warehouse logistics and administrative functions in the work area.
  • Assist with the planning, progress, monitoring, scheduling, data checking and project completion.
  • Identify and report issues and take appropriate action, including escalation of emerging issues to the Senior Project officers/Team Leaders.
  • Build rapport and maintain stakeholder relationships, including liaising with stakeholders to assist in resolving moderately complex issues.
  • Ability to conduct analysis and research and report on findings with the ability to contribute new ideas and identify opportunities for business efficiency improvement.
  • Support scheduling, venue booking, and monitoring completion of training delivered to Temporary Employment Workforce across a dispersed geographical area, including into rural and remote areas (i.e., statewide).
  • Support the procurement processes of the work area including using templates to initiate procurement, and reporting activities.
  • Supervise or coach staff employed under the Commonwealth Electoral Act 1918 or in Temporary Support Officer positions.
